The official party is on the dais, there are Australian flags draped in the windows and doorways and the Scottish Regiment of the Royal Australian Army is parading in front of the Town Hall. An Act of Parliament in 1953 changed the population qualification for a country city from 20,000 to 10,000.

Bonds Buses left from here on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8.00am for Glencoe, Millicent, Beachport, Robe, Kingston, Meningie, Murray Bridge and Adelaide. Ball Buses left from here at 4.30pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for Tarpeena, Nangwarry, Forrest, Penola, Coonawarra, Glenroy, Struan and Naracoorte. According to a researcher, by 2018 this site had become a furniture shop named Mcdonalds Furniture.
