Collection of 250 wartime photographs
Papers comprising approximately 250 photographs and contact prints which have been housed in an album. The majority of the images are of Betty Westwood's military experience in the jungles of Brunei and the northern Brunei island of Labuan, and include army camps, local people and army associated personnel, patients and scenery. There are also some earlier photographs of her nursing days in Redbank, Queensland and South Australia at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and a few images of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Some 65 of the photograph are annotated, indicating names of those in the photographs and location names, these are indicated at item level for this record. See below for further details.

Includes photographs of the factory building at Birkenhead and extension work of the warehouse bay, the Plant's transformer station, the lacquer oven and heat exchanger room, and the production of boats during WWII. Also contains two photographs of the last car coming off the assembly line at Holden's Birkenhead Plant, a Pontiac.

The two ladies are Violet Lillian Lodding (left) and her sister-in-law Joyce (Joy) Marie Paull (right). Joyce married Steven Paull (Violet's brother) and Violet married Albert Lodding.

Lance Corporal Archibald Harold Dowsett
Digital copy of a portrait of Lance Corporal Archibald Harold Dowsett (Spike), No. SX4062. Before enlisting, Dowsett was an official trainer for the Port Adelaide Rowing Club and the Port Adelaide Football Club, and trained the 1937 winning King's Cup Crew. He was one of the many members of the Port Adelaide Rowing Club who served in the Armed Forces during the Second World War. Dowsett enlisted on 31 May 1940 in Adelaide, and at the time of his discharge in February 1945 he was posted with the HQ Guard Battalion.
