Summary

The four masted steel barque 'Corunna', 2432 tons, anchored in an unidentified port. [steel 4 mast barque, 2432 tons, ON102633, 293.0 x 43.0 x 12.2. Built 1893 (10) D&W Henderson and Co. Glasgow. Owners Corunna Sailing Ship Co. (J Hardie and Co) registered Glasgow. Stranded August 30, 1904, near Miramar, South America and abandoned. Subsequently salvaged and taken to Monte Video and converted into a hulk. During WW1 was refitted and sent to sea under the name La Epoca and was torpedoed by a German submarine October 29, 1917.]

One of the ships owned by Hardie's Fleet / J. Hardie and Co., Glasgow.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
