Summary

The iron ship 'Mooltan', 1725 tons, at anchor [iron ship 1725 tons, ON81370, 251.0 x 39.0 x 24.0. Built 1880 (6) Richardson, Duck and Co., Stockton. Owners: British and Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., registered Liverpool c.1907 became the Norwegian 'Olav'. Note from Parsons "Lubbock seems to confuse this vessel with the former P&O steamer of this name which became the sailing vessel 'Eleanor Margaret'].

One of the ships owned by the British and Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
