Summary

[General description] A pair of new brick shopfronts with plate glass windows have been inserted into the middle of a row of cottages. Mercer's Electrical shop is on the left and a Ladies' Hairdresser is on the right. Note the tramline in the road and the elaborate pole. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 876 / O'Connell Street, east side / south of Gover Street / May 27th 1928 / left side of Mercer's is 18.5 yards south of Gover Street. / Frontage of shop: 9.5 yards / Mercer's shop erected in 1927. / For view of cottage prior to its erection see B 4211.'
