Summary

[General description] This is the original Railway station at Port Adelaide, opened in April 1856. It is a large stone building with a tower and a curved roof over the platforms. A locomotive can be seen leaving the platform on the right. See B 34546 for an earlier view. Later, in 1916 a new station was built on Commercial Road and became the main Port Adelaide Railway Station, this original one being known as 'Port Dock'. See B 5520 for the new station. [On back of photograph] 'Before 1927'.
