Summary

Members of the South Australian Infantry who left for the South African War in February 1900. They became the South Aust Mounted Rifles after merging with the Second Contingent in South Africa. The men include Trooper Harry Harbord Morant, known as 'The Breaker'. Left to right: Lieutenant Edward Richman (later Lieut-Adjutant of Fifth Contingent); Trooper F. F. N. A. G. Solly Flood (No.19, 2nd CT); Trooper H. H. Morant (No.97 2nd CT); Trooper H. H. Fetch (No.51, 2nd CT); Trooper H. L. S. Balfour-Ogilvy (No.45, 2nd CT); Trooper R. Nuttall (No.49, 2nd CT); Trooper R. V. Bostock (No.75, 2nd CT); Trooper W. G. Cuttle (No.2, 2nd CT). Photograph taken at the old Exhibition Grounds in January 1900 (ref. 'Observer' newspaper) by G.G.
