Summary

Nile Street, south side, Port Adelaide, showing the premises of the South Australian Electric Light Motive Power Company which was registered in 1895 to supply power to Port Adelaide. Since 1900 Adelaide was supplied with electricity from a temporary facility in Tam O'Shanter Place in Adelaide and in 1901 a new coal-fired powerhouse in Grenfell Street was opened to supply power to North Adelaide
