Summary

The Brocas, residence of Mr. Henry C. Fletcher, Woodville.Between 1869 and 1870 additions were made to this modest symmetrical six roomed cottage to create the mansion seen in this photograph. It now boasts a drawing room, dining rooms and a tower for viewing the Adelaide plains, hills and Port and was set in nine acres of paddocks and gardens. The front balcony was added in 1873. Merchant Henry Giles had the house built in 1851 and it later changed owners to include John Newman and Henry Cruikshank Fletcher who was a Port shipping industry identity
