Margaret Rose Preston nee MacPherson

Margaret Rose Preston seen here painting a still life was born at Glanville on 29 April 1875. A painter, wood engraver and print maker she studied at the Adelaide School of Design and the Melbourne National Gallery School. Working as an overseas agent for the Art Gallery of South Australia as she was responsible for the controversial acquisition of William Orpen's 'Sowing new seed'. She married William George Preston at O'Halloran Hill on 31 December 1919.
