Sir Arthur Blyth

Sir Arthur Blyth was Premier of South Australia three times - 1864-1865, 1871-1872, 1873-1875. He was born in Birmingham and arrived in South Australia on board the Ariadne in 1839. He supported the Torrens Real Estate Act but little other legislation was passed during his terms in government.

Arthur William Piper was born July 5, 1865 at Faversham in Kent. Elder son of Rev. Thomas Piper. Brought to South Australia in 1870. Won a scholarship to Prince Alfred College 1877. Admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court in 1886. KC in 1911. Judge of Supreme Court 1927. In 1894 joined the Council of Prince Alfrerd College. Supported Norwood's sporting bodies. Died of cancer in 1936 and buried in Mitcham Cemetery. Known as an academic, barrister, judge and federationist.
