Two people in a two-seater sulky pulled by two horses

A man with a lady passenger in a straight-shaft sulky drawn by two horses, possibly in the Kapunda district. This sort of vehicle, designed for fast driving, had springs mounted between the shafts and axle, with a dash-board and wing boards over the wheels for protection from stones and mud splashes. The horse in front is added for extra speed and effect.

Photographs 9-23 have been collected into a small album with the title Crompton & Sons Limited, The Stonyfell Olive Co. Ltd, the Bunyip Soap Co. Ltd, 1947. Captions in this album give a brief narrative of various processes and operations. From number 33 onwards, photographs are individual photographs. A collection of CDVs of the British Royal family begins the second album. Album 1 ends at photograph 40; album 2 begins at number 41 and ends at 153. Heinrich family album, compiled by Ilona Oppenheim from loose family photographs. Notes found on the verso of photographs are noted in the caption in inverted commas. Topics include life at Hermannsburg Mission in the Northern Territory in the nineteen twenties, with photographs of some Aboriginal people and visitors to Hermannsburg, including scientists, government officials and tourists. Photos 293-295 are restricted from view pending assessment of Aboriginal content. These images include 293. Ceremonial tjuringa stones of the Hermannsburg area (restricted); 294. 'Manangananga' sacred cave (restricted); 295. 'Holy cave 17 April 1929 (Dad's birthday)'. Large group of Aboriginal people from the Hermannsburg Mission gathered at a sacred spot (restricted). Photos 296-302 have not been digitised. These are duplicated elsewhere in other Heinrich albums or lantern slides.

Postcards received by Annie Beattie

A collection of postcards received over approximately ten years by Miss Annie Beattie, together a smaller number received by her younger sister, Emmie. The earlier ones to both sisters (approximately 1906-1910) are addressed to 'Dunn Street, Lower North Adelaide' [the family home]; during the same period a few are addressed 'c/- Jas. Marshall & Co. Rundle Street, City' [Jas. Marshall & Co. ran a drapers. importers & general furnishers' business at 24-34 Rundle Street]. There are a number addressed to Annie 'c/- Mrs Bowman, "Poltalloch", via Milang' (ca.1907); others are addressed 'Martindale Hall, Mintaro' (ca.1908-1909). By 1911 Annie appears to have returned to Adelaide. A final postcard is written by 'E.B.' [Emmie Beattie] to Miss Eva Decre. The postcards feature various views of Adelaide and surrounds, together with cards from Mount Gambier, Port Victor / Victor Harbor, Mildura, Kapunda, Wallaroo, Port Lincoln and Quorn.
